Dr. Paul Stackhouse

Senior Scientist, NASA Langley Research Center

Dr. Paul Stackhouse is a senior scientist at the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) in Hampton, VA. He is the lead scientist of NASA’s Prediction of Worldwide Energy Resource project (POWER) project under NASA’s newly reorganized Earth Action Program, Energy and Infrastructure Element.

POWER aims to derive, customize, and make accessible NASA Earth Science observations and modeling results for the energy-related industries, particularly renewable energy applications through GIS-enabled web services and applications. Much of POWER’s solar irradiance data products are provided through Dr. Stackhouse’s scientific leadership within NASA’s Clouds and Earth Radiant Energy System project (CERES) and the LaRC Surface Radiation Budget (SRB) Project which develop low latency and long-term historic surface solar and thermal infrared products respectively from satellite radiance, cloud, aerosol and ancillary atmospheric and surface information.

Dr. Stackhouse received his B.S. in Physics and Atmospheric Science at Drexel University in 1986, his M.S. and PhD from Colorado State University in Atmospheric Science in 1990 and 1995, respectively.
