NIBS
Sara Barrett, PE, is a project manager with the National Institute of Building Sciences. Her 10 years of professional experience includes structural and seismic engineering as well as inter-disciplinary stakeholder management using both systems engineering and social systems science methodologies. At NIBS, Barrett supports the Building Seismic Safety Council with the development of the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program’s Recommended Seismic Provisions for New Buildings and Other Structures. In addition, she assists with other climate and natural disaster resiliency initiatives related to lifeline infrastructure and low carbon construction materials. Barrett holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural), and a Master of Business Administration.
Established by the United States Congress, NIBS’ mission is to serve the public interest by advancing building science and technology to improve the built environment.
